Your Stay at The Conch Bungalow

The Conch Bungalow is available for short-term vacation rentals.  We do not rent to tenants seeking a long-term rentals.  Many vacationers to historic St. Augustine not only spend time exploring the City's historic sites, but use the area as their "home base" and venture off on short day trips.  The nearyby Atlantic Ocean beaches, Daytona, Orlando and Disney's Magic Kingdom are just a few of the attractions nearby. 
 
The house has three bedrooms, accommodating a maximum of six people, and a large full bath with two sinks, living room, den, dining room, kitchen and laundry room on the enclosed back porch, as well as a large deck and outdoor shower with hot/cold water.
   
Comfortably appointed, and equipped with a range of amenties to make your visit most enjoyable, The Conch Bungalow's furnishings are reflective of Florida's tropical environment; vintage rattan and bamboo is used throughout, with complementary modern pieces interspersed. The floors were all replaced with solid maple planks during renovation, with area rugs used sparingly. Porcelain tile flooring is found in the bathroom and kitchen. Many of the windows are the original 1925 wood frames. 
 

Most folks renting The Conch Bungalow are travelers who are familiar with and appreciative of upscale lodging, and able to maintain the good condition of the house.  The house is very well kept, without the 'worn' appearance of some generic vacation rentals.  We do not have replacements for the many vintage items in the house, and we expect our guests to be  respectful in how they treat the house and all furnishings and décor. We have a successful rental record at this property and our other - The Hula House - in Lewes, Delaware, due in large part because of our standards for cleanliness, authentic themed décor, and our furnishings. 

 

The Conch Bungalow is NOT appropriate for young children still in an exploratory touching/crawling/jumping/messy  stage, nor for any child or adult - regardless of age - who tends to be sloppy or out-of-control, or who has parents unable to control their child's behaviors. The home is not a flop-down-on-the-sofa-and-eat-ice-cream environment, or a place where a guest should be sitting on the bed spreads applying their suntan lotions, or eating a bowl of spaghetti while sitting on the sofa.  We pride ourselves on the cleanliness of the home, and the well-maintained condition of the furnishings and décor.  We desire Guests who are capable of keeping the house in a nice condition.  We do not desire need "party" groups, heavy drinkers, or smokers who let their personal bad habit's odors enter the home or get on the furnishings.
 

When emailing us your request for information or a reservation, please provide the basic information listed below.  Please remember that The Conch Bungalow is also our vacation home, and as such, we want to know a bit about who it is that is interested in staying at our home.  Please let us know:

 

1) the projected dates of your stay

2) alternate dates

3) the number of adults and children;
4) the age range of adults and the specific ages of children; 
5) what type of group this is - friends, multiple families, or a single family unit;
6) the purpose of the trip to St. Augustine - vacation, business, or a wedding;
7) if any others aside from the names on the lease will be visiting the house, what is the maximum number who will be visiting at any one time, and will there be additional overnight visitors.

 

Rates at The Conch Bungalow are some of the BEST in town. Our standard rates for 2014/2015 are $195/215 a night; weekly rates are $1,200, excluding special events and holidays.  

 

Fees are:

 

Rent cost

10% tax (6% state sales tax, 4% county "bed" tax)

$49.00 to $69.00 damage insurance through CSA Travel Protection. 

If paying on-line a 3% service fee, if mailing check no fee.

 

We hold a $300 refundable security deposit, from which damages, etc. - if any - are first deducted, and if exceeding the $300.00, a claim is filed through the CSA insurance.  We provide a receipt to any Guest who has damages deducted from the $300.00, so they can file their own claim. 

 

If Guests pay attention to basic cleaning requirements, and there are no losses or damage, the $300.00 is refunded in full within 7 days of guest check-out.  Knock-on-wood, we have as of November 2014 only had to deduct for two towels that a Guest removed from the home.

 

We do NOT charge a "cleaning fee" as many homeowners do.

 

We accept payments through PayPros, which protects your credit card information as your financial information is never seen by anyone but PayPros. We do not accept cash or money transfers, such as Western Union or MoneyGram.  We accept personal checks when payment is received at least 30 days prior to check-in to allow time for check to clear.

 

For your comfort: 


  • BEDROOMS: Three bedrooms, two with queen mattress, one with full, maximum allowed occupancy of six.  All beds are comfort height (no low profile). Large closet with shelving in each room. 
     
  • BATHROOM: Spacious bathroom with twin sinks and mirrored cabinet vanities, bench for sitting, linen closet, ADA approved comfort height toilet with assist bar to side of toilet, extra-deep Kohler soak tub / shower with three assist bars.

  • KITCHEN: Kitchen features custom mission style maple cabinets, stainless steel appliances (dishwasher, fridge with ice maker, range and microwave), undercabinet lighting, pull-out trash drawer, coffee maker, toaster, complete compliment of kitchen utensils/ tools/pots, kitchen towels, etc. 

  • LAUNDRY FACILITIES: Full size washer and dryer on rear porch, with separate laundry tub.

  • OUTDOOR COMFORTA large deck is attached to the house in the rear yard,, with comfortable seating and shade, a propane grill for cookouts, and with pavers adjoining the enclosed outdoor shower with hot/cold water flow, perfect for showering after a day at the beach.  

  • LINENS: Bed linens, blankets, pillows and bath and beach towels are provided. 

  • SERVICES: The house is equipped with telephone, WiFi, CD player, and television.  A flat screen television is located in the living room and the master bedroom. A den area with desk make a perfect work space.
